KEARNEY, NE- The Buffalo County Fair Board is proud to announce ACM and CMA Vocal Group of the Year Little Big Town will be performing July 24 at the 2014 Buffalo County Fair.
“The past few years we have started the booking process earlier in the fall,” said Randy Schroer, fair board president. “Little Big Town was a right time, right place kind of booking.”
Little Big Town is comprised of four members, Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook and Phillip Sweet. Their 13 year collaboration has produced several ACM, CMA and Grammy nominations, and crafted Top 10 country hits like “Boondocks” and “Little White Church.” However, their careers have never been more successful than with the 2012 release of their fifth studio album, Tornado.
True to the album title, Tornado has produced country chart toppers “Pontoon,” “Your Side of the Bed,” “Tornado,” and the most recent Top 40 hit “Sober.” It became a perfect storm this past year. when Little Big Town was awarded both ACM and CMA Vocal Group of the Year, and ACM Video of the Year for , “Tornado.”
Opening for Little Big Town is singer/songwriter Chase Rice. This is a man who has not strictly been defined by a music career. He was a starting linebacker for the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and a member of NASCAR’s Ryan Newman and Jimmie Johnson pit crews. Rice moved in with his friends Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley (Florida Georgia Line) and co-wrote what became Florida Georgia Line’s country music game changing hit, “Cruise.”
“Cruise” was such a hit because it defied genre lines. Rice’s latest single and EP, “Ready Set Roll,” is all about creating a sound that is unique, eclectic and the most creative it can be. The single balances mainstream country with an electronica sound that owes a debt to rapper M.IA.’s “Paper Airplanes.” With influences from Garth Brooks to Eminem, Wiz Khalifa and George Strait, there’s no telling what combination of notes and ideas Rice will play on next.
Little Big Town with Chase Rice tickets will go on sale Dec. 13 at 10 a.m. Tickets prices are $30-$40 for grandstand seating and $40 for general admission standing on the floor. All tickets have additional fees. Get your tickets in time for Christmas by heading to www.pickmytickets.com or call the fair office, 308-236-1201.
